Samsung's next Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely discontinuing its traditional design and going for a bigger hole punch for the front camera, based on rumors doing the rounds on the internet. The new hole punch, as it is suspected, would be up to 4mm in diameter, clearly on the area of the S25 Ultra.
The shift does not, however, imply the sensor has been made to be larger. The sources revealed that the bigger hole has been made so to allow the camera to capture a wider angle thus giving the users a chance to take in more in the same frame. It is rumored that the new phone's selfie camera would have an 85-degree angle which is the same as the previous model, the S25 Ultra. More people or things can now be included in selfies with the change but the actual camera and resolution are expected to be the same.
The visual leaks and the digital illustrations of the device have also pointed out the subtle changes in the bezel design. The edges of the Galaxy S26 Ultra seem akin to, or a tad wider than, that of the S25 Ultra, which is in sharp contrast with the ever-thinner designs of the rivals from China like Oppo's Find X9 series, OnePlus 15, and Xiaomi's 17 lineup. Experts have mentioned that Samsung seems to be sticking to its design trajectory and is not in the race of reducing bezels.
The larger front camera hole drew reactions on social media, with fans wondering if the aesthetics of the larger cutout are worth the advantage of a wider field of view. Samsung has not made any specifications public thus allowing conjectures to persist until the time of the official unveiling.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra will be launched in early 2026, and the enhanced front camera that is not going to be a resolution-improving one is still a welcomed feature among users who take a lot of group shots or wide-angle selfies.
